The Red Ranger using his sword to destroy Zordon’s tube seemed like an absurd thing, yet it made a lot of sense in the context of Power Rangers in Space’s “Countdown to Destruction.” The Alliance of Evil, created by Dark Spector but currently led by Astronema, had taken over the galaxy, including Earth. However, Power Rangers in Space made it even more shocking by having Red Ranger Andros kill Zordon to save the galaxy. After audiences followed Zordon for four seasons, Zordon’s death would always be a dark Power Rangers moment.
